THE SAN FRANCISCO MAIL

Sydney, April 11. The Postmaster-General is unable to recommend Mr Creighton's proposal for a fortoighty service for eight or ten years between Australia and San Francisco, Sydney and Melbourne to be alternate ports of call. The Postmaster General states the matter can only be settled after consultation with the postal authorities of Great BritaiD, New Zealand and America. In regard to the renewal of the present contract, he is negotiating with the Unjon Steamship Company. (Received April 11, 2 25 p.m.)
