The Clerk reported that it wss necessary to appoint a day for the general election for members of the Board, all retiring this yetr. The date for annual meeting should also tn fixed. Complaints were made about Ready's and Brown's contraotfl not being completed. Repa'w were required on Danford street and Railway Terrace, eaat. Messrs T. Oronin and L. Fordham wrote stating that they wore willing to aot as sureties for G. Bhellook as poundkeeper for the sum of £100. The bondemon were accepted. The O'.erk was instructed to hold an election for fivo members, nominations to cloje on May Ist, the poll to be on May 7th. It was decided to bold the annual meeting on May Ist at noon, and to hold an ordinary meeting at two o'clock, The Olerk was Instructed to hava the shingling required at the orossing on Railway Terraoa Bast done, also the drainage work on Du'iford street, Mr J. Irvine wrote complaining that he oonld not uart his grain by the near.st road to the railway on account of Ready not finishing the catting contract. Contractors Brown and Ready were to be given notloo that they must complete their oontruoti before May Ist. A circular was received from the Audit department re the keeping of aooouuts. A number of ratepayers wrote asking that Main wiring's road be blinded — Re solved on the motion of Mr Stringfellow, seconded by Mr Mulligan to oall for tenders for the work In two oontraots. Me Turner asked if anything had been done on the Acton Rivei road. The maintenance contractors diary showed that < considerable time had been spent oott. Mr Lyttelton moved that poisoned wheat be prooured; seoonded by Mr Mulligan and carried— Keiolved that £10 be expended on wheat between Messrs Cambridge and Brooks. Messrs Haslett and Rellly waited on the Board and complained that the cutting at the (op of the settlement (to the river) was washed »way two thirds of Its length and it was impossible to get a dray to the river bed.
