NARROW ESCAPE OF PRINCE JEROME.
It was Prince Jerome, and not Prince Victor Napoleon, who was on board the mail boat crossing the Straits of Dover when the collision occurred. The vessel was cut in two close to Prince Jerome's cabin, and he had an extremely narrow escape. An attendant was drowned, but- the Prince himself got off with a few slight bruises. Prince Jerome was on his way to England incognito, to consult the Empress Eugenie about the coming elections.
