v t *• « 0l *« 18TOI ssaeH. April 1. Mr Juahoo Denmston operiad the Supreme Court sittings this morning. His Honor con. gratulated 'the Grand Jury on the lightness of the oalendar. There were fourteen charges , . Dunedin, April 1. The criminal sessions opened to-day. Mr Justice Williams m his oharge to the Grand Jury^said there were not many oases to consider, and none 'were of a serious character* John Graumann pleaded guilty to passing ft valueless cheque, and was sentenced to three years' imprisonment. The Grand Jury re* turned no bill m the oaße oi Emma Brooklyn charged with child abandonment, and the accused was discharged.
Miohael Penny, aged 13, pleaded guilty to stealing from a shop and was committed to the Industrial School. Jas. Jbnes.oharged with indecent assault, pleaded guilty to common assault. The Crown accepted this pie* and sentence was deferred until this afternoon.
