PROHIBITED.
London, March 28. Government have prohibited the import of live sheep and lambs Irom Germany and Holland, on account of the prevalence of foot and mouth disease m those countries. The annual import thence, has hitherto been 800,000 head) amounting to eight-ninths of the total live import into the United Kingdom. In consequence of the action of Government, shippers are trying to introduce dead meat, but it is believed the attempt will fail m consequence of the continued rise m prices m th£ countries from which stock has been exported to England.
