ASHBORTON RAM AND EWE FAIR.

The annual Bam and Ewe Fair was held at the Tinwald Saleyardß yesterday. Th« weather was fine, and there was a large attendanoe of farmers and dealers, aa well as representatives of the various boiling-down establishments. About 15,000 sheep of various olaases were entered, the majority of whioh were large lines of merino ewes from the Amuri. There was brisk competition for all descriptions of ewes, particularly young regular lots, and prices were considerably higher than those obtained at last year's fair. The following were the prices current:— Crossbred ewes 4 and 6-tooth, 6s 3d to 7s 9d ; 4, 6, and 8-tooth, 5s to 7s Id ; fall-mouthed, 4s 8d to 7s 6d ; broken-mouth, 2s to 2s lid; merino ewes, sound-mouth, 2s 6d to 4s 6d ; broken-mouthed, Is 2d to 2s 6d. There was a fair demand for long-wooled rams, and although some of the most important lota were withdrawn, owing to owners' reserves not being reached, a satisfactory proportion was sold. Ldceßter rams, two, four, and sixtooth sold froml to 2£gs; full-mouthed 1 to 2gs ; Linoom rams, 1 to 2£gs; Marina rams were, unsaleable. - -
