Wellington, March 29.
At the Mogi Crate's Court this morning, Julia Maria Iho^pe was charged with unlawfully using an insirnment on Flora Brown (now Mrs Nash) in December, 1887 for the purpose of causing miscarriage. At the outeet there were several warm passages between theßenoh of Justices and Mr Jellicoe, counsel for Mrs Thorpe, owing- to the frequent interruptions of Mr Jellicoo. Inspector Thompson, who cor.ducttd the prosecution, also complained of the offensive conduct of the accused's Course!, Mrs Naeh re'uvd to answer ary questions tending to criminate herse f, and the only evidence adduced was that of Mrs Walker, who accompanied Mrs Nash to the residence of Mrs'lhotps. This evidence was of an un'mportant nature, and Inspector Thompson seeing the case beee with difficulties said ho would proceed no further, and the case was dismissed Mr Jollicoe said If an erquiry were hold into the reasons f r (ho prosecution, thyee would n^t be creditable to thoao who undertook it. r Jhis cilled forth a hot retort from Inspector Thompson, who was supported by iho Bench
