THE ARCHDUKE KUDOLPH.

THE TRUE STORY.

There have been so many versions of the olroumstances under whioh the Ornwn Prinoe of Austria died (writes Mr Edmund Yutes, In the " World"), .hat It is almost needless to add another to tbe ghastly story of profligacy and orlme, but I believe the true story to be that the Emperor aud Empress, as well as the Crown Princess, exasperated beyond endurance at an Intrigue which th<y d!ee>vered between b'm and one of the iadles of the Oonrt, informed him after a most painful aud stormy Interview that hiß conduct was so Infamous that they had determined to appeal to the Pope for a divorce and would never forgive or see him again. The Crown 'Prince went to Meyer Ing, where Count Hoyos and one or two friends were to go to shoot, and during the two days that elapsed between his departure from Vienna and his death he was In a more or less stupid condition. On the following evening, after spending some hours ln drinking and singing with j Count Hoyos and a oabman named | Bootflsb, b e w n * them away, making arrangements for Count Hoyos to shoot with him Ip the morning. After they left him the Crown Frinoe left hia house, and went to a cottage of the gamekeeper, who had a remarkably pretty wlfo, whom the Prince admired. The gamekeeper was out, but relumed before the Prince bad left. The latter on hearing the husband return escaped through a window, and the husband seeing a nian leave his wife's rooms' by that exit fired and sbpt the Prinoe In the back, not knowing who he was. Tbe Prinoe was badly hit and bleeding, and limped baok to hla chateau, and jaaddened with pain, drink, and despair, looked himself m his room and there shot himself. I bave tbe best authority for saying that this is the true aooount of what happened, and that all tbe other stories are more or less modifications of the true one.
