New Plymouth, March 25.

On the resumption of proceedings at 2 p.m. Jones attempted to bring forward a new witness to prove that the Natives perjared themselves m the assault case, when he was fined hy Mr Bawson for assaulting Natives. The Commissioners ruled that no new witnesses could be oalled, only those witnesses that appeared before Mr Rawson daring the hearing of the case. Jones then said it would be Impossible for him to proceed with his oharges if he could not get tbe evldenoe he wanted.

The Commissioners adjourned till tomorrow, when other persons who have laid oharges, but have fall fid to appear to support them, will be Anally oalled upon to do so. The Commission is therefore now practloally closed. New Plymouth, March 26.

Jones only called one witness, Mr Siandiah, Solicitor and Crown Proseoutor, whose evidence oonslsted chiefly of stating what transpired m conrt during tho Native assault cases m which Jones waa concerned. In cross bxtmlnntlon Mr S'andlah admitted that the deputation who waited on Wra, Bayly consisted of himself Bellringer, O'Loughlan end Win. Humphries, and that tho last three with Wm. Bayly came to his (Standlah's) office and it was there decided to get Bayly (the m»yor) to send a letter to the Minister for Justice to aak for Rawson'a removal.

This matter waa Introduced at the Council last night, when m reply to a question, the town clerk said that out of the four names mentioned as forming the deputation only Bellrlnger was on the burg. B;eB' roil,

On resuming this morning the Commissioners said that as Jones had deollned going on with his obargea farther they would direct the names of others who bad communicated with them to be called. This was dune, but there being no appearance of anyone, Commissioner Reid said Mr Jelllcne before he left had Intimated that he would not call evidence In Duncan McGregor's case, bo it wai dosed.

Commissioner Reid eald he bad considered the question and had come to the oonolosion that it was outside the scope of their powers.

Mr Samuel said he thought it would be, but Judge Rawion wanted to have a thorough investigation Into everything.

Tbe Commissioners intimated that as there was no business before them the proceedings were dosed.
