DUNEDIN GRAIN MARKET

Messrs Samuel Orr and Co., Stafford street, report for the week ending Maroh 20th as follows : —

Wheat. — There have been a few sales of new taking plaoe, but the quantity is so limited that it is hardly worth while mentioning it ; m faot, there is but little offering, threshing not being on fully inour wheat growgrowing districts.- The prioes ruling during tbe week have been up to 4s 7d for prime Tuscan ; velvet. 4s_sd to 49 6d ; ordinary, 4b to 4s 3d, and at whioh we oan sell a large quantity.

Oats. — Quite a famine has pervaded the market for the paßt few days, arrivals being so Bmall, as threshing has not become , general. In the oourse of next week, however, a ohange may take place, as m many parts around us the leading m is done and thresh- . ing mills ordered, so that arrivals from now will assume larger proportions: Our Bales during the week were : For prime bright heavy milling, 2s 7£d; good heavy feed, 2s 6d to 2s 7d ; Danish, 2a 7d ; long Tartarian, 2s 7£d to 3s, with a strong enquiry for larger parcels. Barley— Prime malting, 4s to 4s 3d (saoks 2s 6d) ; ordinary, 3s 8d to 4s ; feed, 2s lOd to 3s, with but a limited demand. Chafe 1 m very fair demand at, for prime oaten sheaf, well out and sorened, up to £4 ; ordinary, £3 7s 6d to £3 15s. Potatoes.— At beginning of our present week these were m good demand, but growers oame m on the market offering them and broke it, consequently agents had to aooept lower prioes — say £4 10s to £4 15s. Arrivals are now coming m fairly well, bo that even present prices cannot be relied on for a day.
