A NATIVE DISTURBANCE
[Pfr Press Association.] Napier. Maroh 21. A Native disturbance is threatened at Omahu. Airini Donnelly's Natives lay claim to the land on which Broughton lives, and have broken down fences and proceeded to plough tbe land. Brou^hton's Natives, who are much Jees numerous, are offering a stubborn reeistancp, but so far no seri us breach of tiie peace has occurred , The aggreßsors threaten to pull down Broughton's house, and Broughton's people declare tbat they will fire on any Natives who approaoh with that object. Both sides aro well armed and bave abundance of ammunition. Inspector Kiely, Oaptain Preece, and a foroe of po'ice are on the ground . Later. News has just come from Omahu that this afternoon Airini's natives prepared to carry the house by a sault. They were actually advancing, when Broughton's people went into the building and thrust n_b an 1 ! gun barrels through tbe w'ndowß, evidently detjrmined to fire Airini's people carried no arms. The poise got between tbe contending fore j 8 and managed to stop the assmlt Broughton and some Europeans who had gona to help him were seized, bound, and thrown into a ditch, but the^polioa made the Natives liberate thorn iDßpeotor Kiely has only seven men under him, snd more cannot be ppared . Ihe Natives on both sides are camped now and no disturbance is anticipated m the oifjht, bub it is feared that io the morning a serious affray may 1 ensue, Oaptain Preece is energetically endeavori >g to briog the Natives to reason, acting a mediator.
