FIRE IN DUNEDIN.
A WOMAN BURNT TO DEATH. [PIK PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunkdiit, Maroh 19. A fire broke oat la a three-roomed tenement In Outle street shortly after eleven o'clock Uat night, and reialted In Margaret Leary, the sole osoupant, being bornt to death before anlttance could reach ber. The place wsi a ■eml-detatched oofctage owned by T. Koath. Deceased, who was •bout 36 yeara of age, was not of very temperate habits, and there seem* little doubt that she was oat drinking last night On returning home she mast have gone to the .alddlejroom of the three and lain down Upon the bed. This room was a bedrcom, behind that was the kltohen, and there was a front room tolerably oomfr vtably furnished as a sittiog room The brigade extinguished the fire before any harm had been done to the tenement adjoining Deoeased's half of the bnlldiog was quite catted, find on entering the bedroom the fireman found the body of the woman lybg on what seemed to have been a quantity of straw, the bedding and tbe bedstead having given way under her. The bof'y wai shockingly burned, the head and ■bouldeTS being completely charred up, Also the leg and below the knees. Fragment* of a limp were found m the bedroom, and it was probably by the upsetting of this thac the fire occurred The cottage was insured for £100 In the Sooth British. ______ .
