As there is considerable discussion as to what Oalif ornUn wheat can be landecTat m Sydney, we have obtained the following particulars of the cost by the last San Francisco mail, and as the figures arebaeed on actual facts, they can be taken as thoroughly reliable, more especially as since the mail left Ban Francisco there has been no change m the European market, whioh practically controls CaHfornian values. *tfo 1 standard Oalifornian wheat is quoted at Idol 460 per cental of 1001 b, f.o.b , or as nearly as possible 3s 7sd per bushel. The average rate of freight from San Francisco to Sydney is, 27s 6d by sailer; steamer rates vary, and depend upon whether the wheat is taken at dead weight or otherwise. Freight at 27s 6d ser ton would mean about B£d per bushel, 'be current rate of insurance from San Francisco to Sydney is 1 per cent, or My £d per bushel. The loss m weight by reason of the dryness of Oalifornian wheat is no more than per cant on orgoes. The cost of exchange is trifling. Taking everything into consideration, Oalifornian wheat, as the market now stands^ can bo landed m Sydney, at about 4s 6d per bushel . — Exchange.
