In Holland, at tha first anniversary, It wos stated that during the year 1000 soldiers bad been made. In England the rescue work formed an Important feature. In London 80,000 unfortunates were known to the polioe. During the year 1887,600 were gathered Into the Army Rescue Heme; of that number 400 were known to h*ve become thoroughly reformed. Tbe slum work was progressing satisfactorily , The food snd shelter work was another Important branoh Meals ware supplied at from a Ji to ld In London, and the institution was self supporting It did not moke paupers, as it were, of those who accepted its hospitality, as 18.000 tlokets were dally purchased. Sinoe the Commissioner's visit a aeoond ooe had been opened, and arrangements were m progress for opening others. In the course of hla travels he had met parents who had ohildren or people wh. had relations here, and be was bappy to say that In many instances he bad been the means of finding the lost onn*.
