The Trooactfro Aquarian, receives an annual subvention of Bloofrs from the city of Paris, and appear* amply to be earning It. A report just published respecting the operations of the establishment during the past year shows that the stocking of the riven of the department of the Loire with California salmon bas heen qotlvely continued, 22,000 fry aged eight months and about five Inches long have beon turned into these streams. The spawning season of 1887 at the Aquarian, produoed 300,000 fry m all, 8000 of which were kept In view of the ooming Exhibition. Towards the end of I last October tbe Oallfomlan salmon spawned snd yielded about 600,000 fry, Last year the Chilian Government applied to the Aquarium for a supply of 300 California salmon, which were sent oqt m oharge of a young prep.rato* and pupil of the establishment, who has since been engaged to remain m Chill as assistant manages of tbe Santiago Aquarium. The lectures on pisoloultare aro well attended, the average number present being 120.
