ELECTORAL.
Earl Compton, son of the Marquis of Northampton, has been elected for the Barnsley division (Yorkshire) m the House of Commons, which seat was rendered vacant by the resignation of Mr Courtney S. Kenny, who sat as a Gladstone Liberal. He defeated bis opponent, Mr B. C. Vernon WentWOrth, a Tory, by a" majority of 2551.
