PARNELL AND "THE TIMES"

(Per Press Association.) 1 1 London, March 13 It is expected that the "Times " case before the " Times "-Parnell Commission will be brought to a conclusion to-morrow. Evidence has been adduced to shew that the Hibernian Bank received over eight hundred thousand pounds lodged to the credit lof the funds of various leagues. No direct evidence was given to show how this money was disbursed, though it was made clear that Mr Parnell directed certain payments to be made. The evidence brought out the fact that contributions from the Australian colonies and New Zealand to the funds of the League had been very large. Before the " Times "-Parnell Coramission an attempt was made to show what the receipts of the Leagues had been, but no satisfactory estimate could be made. From the evidence adduced it is doubtful -if they exceeded In his evidence before the Commission, Coffey, an Irish reporter, confessed that he lied to Mr Soames, solicitor for the "Times," when he professed to be revealing his knowledge of the complicity of the Land and National Leagues m crimes m Ireland. He was immediately committed for contempt. At the conclusion of the case for the " Times " Sir Charles Russell, counsel for the Parnellites, will make an app'ication for a three weeks' adjournment.
