Rtdmbt, March 7 Apasseoger by the Rockton, from Fiji, reports that on the voyage he was robbed of a portmanteau which contained thirty sovereigns, thirty Napoleoni, j£>oo worth of diamonds and a letter of credit for ;£iooo. There is not the slightest clue to the robber. At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce to-day Mr R. J. Creighton, of San Francisco, explained his scheme of a fortnightly San Franctpco service. He contended that five first-class steamers could land mails m the .colonies m the same time as those of tthe direct and Peninsula lines. The •cost of the service would be pec annum, of which he anticipated jbhe American Government would con£nbatc ,£40,000, leaving the colonies t 0 nay the balance.
