The Government statist gives the average wheat yield of the colony aB only 5-1 bushels per acre. The total yield is estimated at 1,540,000 bußhels, a deficiency ot 3,250,000 bushels on the average of the past twenty- seven years. The drought entails a loss m oereals of £900,000. Requirements are estimated at 8,100,000 bushels, and when from this quantity is taken the 1,540,000 bushels which have been grown here this season, a deficiency of 6,560,000 bushels remains to be supplied from outside sources. Victoria and South Australia are estimated to have only 4,600,000 bushels for export, therefore New South Wales, and Queensland, which also has to import part of its flour, will have to look to New Zealand, and probably Amerioa, to make good their deficiencies.
