SUICIDE CF PIGOTT.

In the course of an interview to day Mr Farnell stated that the expenses m defending the charges brought by the " Times " against him had amounted to £50,000. Before the " Times "-Parnoll Commission to-day Messrs Lewis, Labouchere, Campbell, McCarthy, and Sala gave evidence m support of the confession made by Pigott. Sir Charles Russell, on behalf of Mr Parnell, applied to the Commissioners to make an interim report of theirdecieion regarding the letters. Sir R. E. Webster strongly objected to this, and urged that the Commissioners should not communicate their deliberations until all the evidence as to the alleged foul conspiracy had been completed. Sir James Hannen, the President, announced that the Commissioners would give their decision on the point on Thursday next. Sir R. E. Webster then proceeded with the general charges, and submitted evidence m support of his allegation that Patrick Ford, editor of the tr Irishman," had remitted large sums to the Land League for the purpose of promoting outrages. Information has been received that Pigott has committed suicide at Madrid. London. Maroh 2. It is now asserted that Pigott, under the name of Roland Ponsonby, has been arrested m an hotel m the city, ( ? of Madrid) whereupon he asked leave to go to his bedroom to fetch his hat, and taking a revolver from a bag which he had with him shot himself. The bullet entered the mouth, death being almost instantaneous. On Thursday last Pigott wired to Mi Boames, one of the " Times' " solicitors asking him to forward what he had promised, and this was understood to mean money. Mr Soames at once informed the police of Pigott's whereabouts.
