London, February 24. -Sir John Hall has been interviewed by a representative of the " Pall Mall Gazette," He said defensive federation wag desirable, but fiscal federation was a dream. Australia would support England \n a war on colonial account, but it was doubtful whether support would be obtained for a European war. He ridiculed Mr Froude's statement that Parliaments and Agents -General had advocated the imposition of extra duty on foreign imports for defence purposes.
