Mr Gillies, the Premier of this colony, denies the imputation of Mr Dibbs, Premier of New South Wales, that he sought m his communication with Canada m reference to the Pacific Cable question, to set himself up as the moqthpiepe of Australia, and adds that his message was merely m reply to the one received from Canada. He accuses Mr Dibbs of suggesting that the Conference should be held m Sydney before the colonies had come to a decision.
