ELECTION FOR EAST PERTHSHIRE.

Sir John George Smyth Kinlochi Bart., a Home Ruler, has been elected to represent the constituency of Bask Perthshire, the vacancy for which was caused by the death of Mr R. & Menzies. The number polled by the successful candidata was 4005, against 2289 for Mr Bruce, the Unionist candidate. It is believed that the arrest of Mr T. L. Carej, M.P. for KilrJare, which was made at Kinloch House* Meigle, Perthshire, influenced the elec* tion adversely to Mr Bruce.
