KESCUE OF FOUR SAILORS.

Rome, that the Canard steamer Umbria, which arrived at Qaeenstown on December 15th from New York, reports the arrival at the latter port, on December Btb, of the bat quo Artemus, from Liverpool, having on board the oaptaln, mate, and two seamen, the only survive™ of the wrecked b igantine Ethel Davies, rescued, when almost dead, from tho vessel, which wai abandoned dismaßtod, and waterlogged m lat. 26 N. long 02 W,, ihe remainder of the crow, five m number, having been washed overboard and drowned. The Artemus sighted the Ethel Uavles on November 29th, She was a complete wreck, the masts haviog been out away, and hei deck was almost flush with the water. A signal of distress was flying from the stump of the mizenmast. Hdviug bore down on the disabled craft no s'gns of life were visible on board, but on the after house, orouohed together, were observed the bodies of several men, apparently dead. A boat was qoiokly despatched from the Artemus, and when the oraw gob on board the wreck they discovered that the four men on the after house were lashed to it, and although not dead woro quite nnconeoious. Having cut way the lashings from the insensible seamen they were conveyed on board the Artemus, snd after some hours of oaref ul treatment they recovered. The captain of the Ethel JDavies relates that they were on a voyage from Laguna to New York with rmhogany, that on November 25th, m a hurrioane, they had to cut away the masts to save the ship, then almost fu'l of water ; that on the same day the steward and four of the seamen were- washed overboard by an immense sea and drowned, and that the mate, two seamen, and himself, bad lashed themselves to the of terhouse, where for four days and nights they remained c*. posed to the fury of the storm, and without either food or water.
