The amount of wheat afloat for the United Kingdom is two million three hundred and forty thousand quarters ; lor the continent seventy-two thousand quarters. The American visible supply l» 34,875,000 bushels. The English wheat market is declining; the Continental is firm and the American buoyant. New Zealand Shipping Company's shares are quoted at £z ; ShawSaville's, £% ; Union Steam Shipping Company, New Zealand mutton is quoted at 4a for prime quality. Leather ad to a#d. The New Zealand Loan and Mercan tile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cable message from London, dated sth February, 1889:— . ' , WooL— The sales progress firmly. Medium and inferior greasy have declined >£d per lb since close of last Mies. Fine crossbred, market firmer; oclser descriptions unchanged. Up to date 64,000 bales have been sold. Frozen Meat. — Mutton market has a hardening tendency ; the demand has increased. Beef market firmer, owing to light supplies.
