Dunedin, February 3. Murphy, the light weight, and T. Williams of Ohristchnrch, met at a glove fight at Princess Theatre on Saturday evening. Considerable money depended on it. From the start Murphy forced the fighting and had all the best of it, Williams being v a able to stand against him and allowing himself to be rushed on to the ropes. Claims of foul were made 89veral times for Murphy bitting the man on the ropes, aud m the fourth round the referee, named Tanner, gave the fight agdnat .Mwphy, A scene of great confusion followed. Murphy struck the referee, and the crowd rushed the stage; The deoieion was doubtful, and Williams must have been beaten. The stakeholder paid over the money to Williams, and afterwards applied for police protection, against Murphy.
