ADVANTAGES OF DISHORNING CATTLE.
The" Lyttelton Timeß" of the 24tb inst., writes :— Three splendid pen* of fat t ullooka, oontainlng six head In each, were entered at tbe Addington Saleyards by Mr S. Garford yesterday. Owing to the dull state of the market, they had to be returned home coaold. They, however, conclusively prove the very great advantages to ruing to the practice of dishorning as while cattle standing In pens near them were horning eaoh other, and Injuring the beef, these were quietly moving about, unable to do each other harm. They were bred by Messrs Hay Bros., of Pigeon Bay, from whom Me Garforth purchased them recently, and the allegvd cruelty of dishorning w*s carried ont about nine months ago, when they were | store bullooks over three years of age, There oin be no doubt that the earlier the , dishorning la done the better, but for b tints about to travel, no greater kindness i oan bo praotlsed. These cattle have Imi proved In oondltion from the time the horns were removed.
