ASHBURTON LIVE STOCK MARKET.

Thomas (late of Mataon, Cox and Oo.) reports upon the live atook market for Aehbarton district for the week endlDg , Jmu»ry 22 ad ai follows :— On Tuesday at the Aahbnrton Yards 1 held my usual weekly sales of sheep, oittle and pigs. The total entry for the day comprised 2995 sheep and 41 bead of cattle, of which I bo d 2243 sheep and 15 head of oattle. There w«a a fair au.ndanoe of bayeis bat bidding was not very brisk, bat after the sale all lines wern cleared with the exception of a very good line of hoggets whlob did not reaoh owner's reserve. The following were the prices realised : -Fat orosabred ewes, 7« to 8s ; fat crossbred wethers, 10s 21 t<, 12i 6d ; fat two-tooth ewes and wethers, 8s Id to 8s 2d ; orosebred Jamba, 5j ; fall moath oroaabred ewes, 4a 8d to 6a 6d ; two-tooth ewes and wethers, 8s 3d ; crossbred ewes and lambe all count, 4 1 8d ; crossbred stock m poor condition, 7« 4d j freezing lambs, 9a. Io cattle, fat heifers, £3 10s j oowb,£B 5s to £4 10 s j oalves, 12 j. I also held a olearing sale on the pre vioni Friday on the farm of the late 8 McLeary which was the most saoaessful I have oonduoted for years past. The farm realised £8 10* per aore, besides the trop which aod mi follows, the wheat crop oontalnlog 165 acres £2 15s, and the oatt containing 60 aorei at £3. The implement' reallsod full market rates. Horses, good sorts and la good oonditlon £20 10s to £30, Sets Larneas from £2 l&i to £4 16a. Fat steers £4 12a *6d. Oows from £3 5i to £3 15i.
