WOOL AWARDS.

Melbourne, January 23 For fleece wools the following awards have been made : — Best un skirted rams fleece McLean, Hawke! Bay, 2nd; long wool greasy, Reid Oamaru Ist ; R. Cobb, Palmerstor North 2nd; J. Wallace, Papatoitoi 3rd, For the best unskirted ewes fleece, Reid secured first, second and third prizes. Best unskirted ewes fleece nol previously shown McLean, Hawkes Bay 2nd; Joseph and Phillips Wairarapa 3rd. The jurors m their report state that m their opinion the regulations controlling the awards encourage a tendency to breed for weight rather than quality, thus placing high class wools at a disadvantage.
