BOROUGH SCHOOL COMMITTEE

♦ ■ A speoial meeting of the Borough School Oommtte'i was held last ovening. Present: Messrs G Fcatt (ohairman), A ■ ook, W. Craighead, 11. Alston, '-V. T. Kingston, and E. J. Paul. Correspondence was read from the Board of rTdncation sta ing that Mr 0 0 Bowea had declined, on account of private business • ncagomonts, nomination for a seat on the Board. A letter, expressing regret that the head master had tendered his resignation, aud testifying to hi 3 ability, was a bmitted by the Chairman for tho . pprovi 1 of the Committee. After somo dtaonesion, it was unanimously resolved tbat the Chairman draw it up m the form of a ■ testimonial and forward it to Mr Kneen. It was dcci ed to forward tbe hoad master* resignation on to be dealt wi h by the Board of Education. The Ohairman then moved that tho Committee as a body tender their resignation to tbe Board. The Chairman p inted out 'hat m viof of the stand the Committee had previously taken m support of the headmaster being allowed to retain charge of he school, and the action of the Board m holding that there should be a change m the headship of the feaohirg staff , the o ly oourse for the Committee would be to lesiga, and tbus give tho householders an opportunity of expressing approval or otherwise of their actionThe motion was seconded by Mr Paul, and supported by Messrs Elaton, Cook, and Kingston Mr Oraighead opposed the. motion. On being put it wai carried, Mr Craighead dissenting. The Beorttary was requested to forward a copy of the resolution, together with ;he heaa master's resignation, to tho Board of Education
