» Through the courtesy of Sergeant Felton we are enabled to give a summary of tbe police cases that were heard tc the looal Oonrt during tbe past year. There was a considerable diminution In the number of off-noes, as oompared with the preo ding year. Last year 313 rfienoes were reportsd es against 379 In 1887, 306 persons were apprehended as against 308 and 260 were efinmarlly oonvloted, as eg.lnat 308. Three persons were comm:t*ed for trial ln each year. Of oourse, tho greater numbs, of cases oome nnder the head of drunkenness. There were last year 171 oases _f this natnre, being thirteen less than the preoedlng year. ' There were convictions ln all oases, excepting one.
