PARISIAN SENSATIONS
A DUEL AND A DOUBLE SUIOirE. The latest Parisian sensation is a hostile • encounter, tbe motives of which have ' been kept strictly secret, which took place on the morning of Nov. 27, m the Bois de Vllle d' Avroy not far from C&vres. The combatants were M. de M-— a cavalry officer, and M L , son of a former Minister of the Third Empire. Judging from the severity of the conditions arranged and the desperately determined eonduot of the adversaries, ihe canses of ihe duel mnst have been of tbe gravest possible nature. After five reprises, m the ooone of wbioh both had been wonnded, the seconds essayed to atop the duel, bat the combatants, who were still perfectly able to use ib.ir weapons, insisted npon continuing ; »Bd at titte sixth encounter M. de M— wm ttorfcally wounded by a sword thrust through his Inng. His wife who had been watching the duel from a distance, rushed ' forward and fell to the ground In a swoon, just as her unfortunate husband fell back Into the arms of one of the jMOonda. The dying man waa oarrled to Ua oarriage and driven back to -Paris, where be shortly afterwards sucoumbed io hla Injuries. Another drama took place a few days ; befote at Lyons, Two young people, M. Sonlame, commercial traveller, and a girl • named Oestamle Grlnand, entered a oab In that oity and drove to Fontalces-•ar-Lione, where they alighted at an hotel and ordered dinner. At dessert Sonlame •eked the waiter for writing materials, and some few minutes later fonr revolver ■hots were heard from tbe room. When ihe door was opened tbe conple were fonnd on tbeir knees, tightly enlanoed. Tbey were covered with blood bnt still breathed, the man being woonded In tbe right temple and the girl In tbe left eye. Neither is expeoted to recover, Sonlame bad left a letter on tbe table announcing _ their Intention to commit suicide together, bat affording no Indication as to motive.
