REBUKING A MINISTER IN CHURCH.
• On Sunday, November 4, a eurpri«fne Incident occurred lv tbe Established Ohorch at Whltelncb, Glasgow. Tbe minister, B v Qulntia Johnston, read a paper publlthed by order ot the General Assembly with reference to tha 200 -h anolvereary of the revolution of 1688. He Improved the occasion by animadvert. Ing upon the attitude of certain politicians towards tbe Church of Scotland.' and m particular denounced Mr Gladstone as being " a tool lo the hends of Romanhra." Upon this a ycung lady rose m her pew and ci'lfid upon the miDisto? to desist from making the pulpit a centre for propagating politics, and on his attempting to alienee her he (of coorae) got tho worat of It. She then reminded him that he w_a a minister of religion, whoae doty it waa to preach tho Gospel, and she wound op by forbidding him "todeie.rate the house of prayer by introdoolng polltloa and propagating party lam within ito walls." The minister then explained that hla remarks, had been made on acooont of tbe pamphlet which had been given him to read to the congregation, and he then proceeded to preach hli sermon, which the yoong lady listened to without uttering any farther protest. No doubt her vigorous aotlon will keep politics out of one pulpit, at least, In future;
