FLEMINGTON PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH SABBATH SCHOOL.

The annoal ploolo took pluoe on New Year's Day m a field kindly lent by Mr Grieg near the cbjjroh. The friendly sh.de of the tall pines was muoh sought after, and was qnite appreciated at dinner and tea. Yet tbe great heat did not deter tha larger part from encaging wltb spirit la the usual reoreatlocS. The gathering waa remarkable for being tbe largest of the kind jet held, over 200 pnriona having oom a together from the surrounding distriot. P„stnr and people, old and yonog, were busily eDfeiged In contributing to the peneral enjoyment, and abont seven o'olook a movement was made towards the ohuroh whioh was soon entirely filled, and forms were plaoed ln • bepauage. The Rvv A, Blake opened the meeting and gave an address on, "A Happy New Year." Beoltatlona were given by soveral roholars, and songs were eo-trlbntca by Mrs Dunn, Mr James OatOfne, Mr Dunn, and Mr Dtkers. A uumber of the aobolara joined tbe ohoir In singing himcs f om a sh?et prlnted for the nooasion. Mr Dunn spoke on the state of the sohool, tbe attendance of ' Ider scholars, and the supply of teaobers. Then came the distribution by the Rev A. Blake of a number of ruitatla books, awarded by the teachers, to the soholara of the various olasses. Mr H. Donaldson drew some lessons from the life of Samson, and warned the young against evil company. He moved a vote of thanks to the ladiea who bad provided the gcod things, also to Mr Dunn and the chair man. Mr Walte In seconding the vote of thanks expressed tba pleasure the visitors bad had In being present, and tfiefv sense of the k'ndneis of the people of Flemlngton- The vote was carried very heartily. Mr Dunn wished to thank Mr Williamson for tbe Jse of the harmonium, and Miss Blake for presiding at the m ■trument during the evening, also Mr Grigg for the us? cf the paddock. A most enjoyable gathering was then brought to a olobp.
