A heavy shook of earthquake vn experienced la Ashburton between 9.25 < and 9.26 p.m. The line of oiollUtton , appeared to be from Sooth to North and the vibrations lasted for sevaral seconds* *£he ehook was tcoompanted by » tumbliDg sound. -
la Obristahaioh (** we learn from the) morning papers) the shook Is obaraoterlsed as pretty severe. The motion li desorlbed as of a rotary oharaoter. The town olook was stopped at 9.27. A telegram from Walkwl gives the time as 9.29 and states that the shook wutton violent by far than the last great shake, and was accompanied with a roaring loand like thunder. No lerloai damage It repotted.
