Mr Jno Morley urged Government to open negotiations with the Dervishes for the purpose of earing Emm Bey and Stanley. Sir J. Ferguson said it was doubtful whether Osman JDigna's letter was authentic. The date appeared-to be too recent, and it was improbable the captives had been taken to Khartoum. Government were inclined to think it a clever device. They did not consider there were sufficient grounds to op'en negotiations at Buakim.
