ELECTION.
Mr Cornwallis, Conservative, has been returned for the constituency of Maidstone, the seat being rendered vacantly the death of Major Ross. The successful candidate defeated his opponent^ a Home Ruler, by 185 votes. At the previous election the deceased member (who was a Conservative), was returned by a majority of' 3x4 over Mr T. P. Baptie,.aHom^,Ruler. .
