CONCERT AT SOUTH RAKAIA.

On Friday evening a children'! conoert m aid of the school prize fund was held m the Town Hall. In spite of the bitter oold night there was a large attendance and the fisancial result will be some seven or eight pounds clear. Great pains have •evidently been taken with the children and tbe result reflects great credit lon the toebors, especially Miss Bruce who conducted the children's performances at the cooeertt The chMren were ar tanged on raised ercta on the •tage, were clean, well dressed and cheerful locking end under perfect control, m fact there was not a fidget amongst the lot daring tbe whole evening wbioa ia a groat deal to say, considering there were co many infants present Mr Pyke, chairman of the School Committee, made » few remarks to the parents present and on the conclusion of the concert, Mr Dixon, the head master, returned thanks for the assistance he had received stating that he always had the interests of the children at heart, m school and oat. The programme wa* a lengthy one and well earned out, the youngsters receiving well merited applause.
