RULES AND REGULATIONS

The Meeting will be held under the Canterbury Jockey Club rules of racinjj In the Trotting Race all horses to trot fairly to the satisfaction of the Judges. Pull-and-go A district horse shall mean any horse that has been commonly re ident m the district between the rivers Selwyn and Waitaki from October 1, 1888, and up to the date of the forthcoming meeting, and owned by a person who has resided m the said district during the same period A gentleman rider shall be one who has never ridden or .rained horses for hire, or been employed m a training stable Five per cent will be deducted from the gross of all moneys payable m accordance with this programme for the expenses of the course All nominations and acceptances to go to the funds of the Club No entry will be received except on the conditions that all disputes, claims, and objections arising out of the racing shall be decided by the Stewards, or whom they may appoint. Their decision on a'l points connected with the carrying out of this programme to be final Nominations with fees for all Handicaps, including the Trot, stating the name, ace, and description of horse, and colors of the rider, must be m the hands of the Secretary, ?.t Henry's Commcicil Hotel, Ashburton not later than 9 p.m. C;i Saturday, December 8, 1888.'
