London December 7. Lord Ashbourne's Act has been passed by the House of Lords. An address has been presented to Mr Jno. Dillon by 155 Liberal members ol the House of Commons, sympathising with him at ihe unmerited sentence ol imprisonment passed on him m Jnne last. Replying to the address Mr Dillon said Liberalism had been the means of drawing England and Ireland closer together. Despite the acts ol Government, if Home Rule were granted to Ireland the friendship already formed would be cemented. Home Rule for Ireland did not mean separation from England • on the contrary, the sympathy of England *was what the Irish desired, and not political separation, and if that sympathj were lieely offered to Ireland, it would go far to stamp out crime m thai country.
