H.M.S, i Oiprey, Commander Bi, Gluing, has bean nerving on the Bast Indies station for several years, and was reoommlMlonei at Bombay la Aptll, 1886. Qa the. 16th : September, while on a orulae, tha Ospre* • lighted Mooha, and boarded a, small dhow ' > that had been Bent from Asaab Bay b» i the Itallam, to Mooh» % fos fruit. At daybreak on the following (Sunday) morning tha O^prey atghted 'three dhows ahea.d, and immediately Wenk in pursuit of them. On getting withlo range a gun was fired from the sloop aa a nlgnal to tha dhows to stop and submit to examination. No notice, however, waj. taken of this ; bat the dhowe, instead orowded on more sail and endeavored toescape. A well-aimed shot at tha matt of tho largest of the three dbows speedily • brought her up, but by thlatime the two i other dhows wera oaatly ■ a mile ahead * and widely sepcwted, so that the captnro of both wai by no means e»iy. But •> f6rtu,n.ate shot through the sail of tha i nearest resulted la her soon being made a prisoner, and then the Osprey went lo pursuit of tha third dhow, and eventually captured har. Taking the last two in tow, her Majesty's sloop steamed baok to the first of the dhows, and, on searoh being made, ft was found that the three dhows contained over two hundred slaves, male and female in nearly equal proper! tlona, and by fat the larger propQjtloni qbioy Ohriatlana from AbytsiaU* Thei p)lz9S wera towed to Aden, where tha vessels were condemned And the slaves: | were uken charge o£ ty th» mtbotUUil
