BEACH V. HANLAN.
PEE PBBSS ASSOCIATION. Sydnet, November 27. The Bculling race between W. Beach and E. Hanlan for £500 a-Bide was rowed overthe championshipcourseon the Parramatta river this afternoon. There was a large attendance at various points of vantage along the banks of the river, Beach had the call m the betting, and 2 to 1 was laid on him. A" good, start was effected, and before going 200 yards: Beach had a pronounced lead, butHanlan, with a grand spurt; gradually reduced the gap, and on passing the' mile post the boats were on level terms*. Crossing over to Putney the Canadian* had a slight lead, but rough water interfered with him, and Beach again forged ahead. When Cabarita was reached Beach led his opponent by two and a-half lengths, when the latter again spurting reduced the distance. Beach also increased his pace, and it was evident each oarsman had a lot left m him. From GladesTille Hanlan rowed a plucky losing race, but could. not get on even terms with Beuch,, who won by two lengthi. Time,, 21miri 15sec.
