Ihe alarm was gtvon at onoe by one of the staff, and the engines were soon on the spot, but before many minutes had ..lapsed the whole corner block from tbe " Chronicle " In Ridgway street to Drummond and Co.'s, next the Bank of New South Wales, wbb In a bbz9. The Bank up to the time of wiring is safe, bnt not out of danger. The high wind blowing spread the fire to the opposite side of the avenue, which wis extinguished before damage was done. The cause of (he tire is unknown. Too damage is mostly covored by insurance. Auokland, November 27 The Foresters' Hall, Dargaville, waß i burnod down last night, with contents. Coroornn's Hotel, adjoining, was caved with difficulty. Insurances — Union £189, New Zealand £100. Inoondiarlsm is suipeoted. An inquiry will be held.
