By the Manapouri from Sydney, further particulars have been reoeived of the war m Samoa and the attaok by Mataafa's troops on tho entrenohmont ot Tamasese's men. The Government troops having been oompelled to leave Mulunui, took up their quarters m the district of Atua. Tamasase and the bulk of his people occupied a strong position m the village ot Luatuanan, thia being the prinoipal fort. Muoh delay m the proseoution of the war arose from the late arrival of the Savaii contingent pf Malietoa's army, who had deferred their deoision as to whioh party they Bhould join. They at length enrolled homsolves whioh tho Malietoans, and on the 7th and Bth inst, the vanguard of Malietoa'. army advanced upon the Government fortß al Atua. Mataafa hoped tbat witb tbe advanoe of the land foroe, Manoni would send hie fleet to sea to meet the boats of Tamasese, but Manoni not being prepared did not send out. The land attaok was led by a comparatively small foroe of a few hundred men, and resulted m a heavy lobs for tbe Malietoans, who, however, suooeeded m gaining possession of several small forts. The Government fleet advanced upon Lanne, but Mataafa and the majority of hiß troops, who were enoamped here, prevented the advance of the boats. The wounded of Mataafa's party were brought to ambulance tents provided by Oapt, Pelly oi H.M.S. Lizard. '
