THE APPOINTMENT OF GOVERNORS
[PBR PRESS ASSOCIATION.] LoNDoM, November 22. The provincial press strongly support Sir T. Mcllwraith's attitude over the question of the new Governor. There is a consensus of opinion that Sir H. Blake's appointment will be cancelled. Lord Knutsford m the course of a protracted interview with Sir H. Bfake, censured, the latter for allowing a representative of the Central News Agency to interview him. The Secretary for the Colonies pointed out that this | action had increased the. difficulty of the Government m arranging a satisfactory understanding. Sir H.Blake lefc impressed with the belief that his •appointment would be cancelled. Subsequently, Sir A. Blyth, Agent-General for South Australia, and Lord Knuts- 1 ford had a long conference. It is exexpected the Cabinet will come to a final decision on Mr Henniker Hcaton, m a long letter to "The Times," says the summary of the difficulty with Queensland is comprehended m England's treatment of New Guinea and the Musgrove incident, The letter has attracted much attention. London, November 23 •'The Times" stae that Sir H, Blake has placed himself entirely m the hands of Lord Knutsford.
