In the course of the debate on the question of the appointment of Sir H. A. Blake to the Governorship of Queensland, Mr W. H. Smith said the request of the Queensland Government had been premature and imperioui m tone. The matter was now receiving careful attention of the Cabinet, by whom moderation would be exercised m dealing with the question, and the Colonial Government might rest assured that the Imperial Government would act m all good faith with the desire to secure a satisfactory solution of the difficulty.
