WRECK OF A SCHOONER.
• — t LOSS OF LIFE. (PBR PjRESS ASSOPJATION.) Wellington, November 12. Inspector Thomson this morning received a telegram from Constable Mackiy, stationed at Martinboroagh, Informing kirn that the Bohooner Lizzie Guy, bound from Oamara to Auckland with flour and grain, was wreoked on the ■East Coast off White's station on Saturday morning tacit. The telegram statea that the captain and the cook were both drowned, but the remainder qf the crew are snfo. The constable reporta that he is going to the scene of the wreck Ha Boon as the rivera are fordable. Inspector Thomson has directed Constable Maokay to prooeed with all haste to the scene, and request a Jußtioe of the Peaca to accompany him and hold an Inquest on the bodies If they were waßhed ashore, In order that they may be buried on the be»ob. Inapeotqr Thomson has also Gommunloated with the agents of the vessel m Auokland and Tlmarn. The Lfzzle Gay Is a wooden schooner of 85 tons register, and was bailt In Bateman's Bay, New South Wales, In 1871. The following are the names of the crew who proceeded* m her when she loft Wellington on 7ch Ootober for Havelock, from Which, port she afterwards sailed for Oaroara :— Jas. Stephens (captain), John Wilson, Frank Nalnly, Samuel Oaverloy, and Frank Slamberg. Her owner is Mr James Cray, of Hokitlks). The Insurances upon the vessel and qargo appear to be distributed amongst various offices. The | National Insurance Oo have a risk (f £725 I upon the cargo (shipped by l^leet), and the Union 00. have a risk of £600 (£250 of which to reinsured In the N.2J. office) upon the same.
