A SEVERE STORM

HEAVY RAINFALL.

Palmerston Kokxh, November 12. The fieicest storm of wind and rain ever experienced m the district occurred here on Saturday. Tho outlying districts were flooded for a considerable ares, but the only serious damage reported is the loss of 500 sheep by Rushell, Tematei. The railway line 'at Jockeytown was washed away, and Ustill under water. The Manawafu river is m high flood and overfbwing on to adjacent property. Considerable damage has been done to shops m the Square. Woodvillts, November 12 On Saturday 4*15 inches of rain fell and the straaras m tho district are In high flocd. Yesterday the Manawatu river rose to the height of 43 feet at the Gorge, low'ylug land being covered with water. Little damage is reported. One very heavy fall of earth took plaoe at the railway line through the Gorge, and several smaller slips Napirr, November 12. The weather moderated on Saturday night. The rivers are flooded, but not much damage is reported.
