London 1 , November 7 In the House of Commons Mr Gladstone is resisting the extension of Lord Ashbourne's Act, which provides foa Government advancing money to enable tenants to purchase estates. Mr Gladstone m an article m an American magazine, says that the relations existing between Great .Britain and her colonies are happily so elastic that any difficulties arising are adjusted Mithout the colonies resorting to the cry of separation. The meeting of the Liberal Federation League at Birmingham to-day was attended by 3000 persons, when resolutions m favor of Home Rule for Ireland were adopted. It was also resolved to advocate single voting and agitate m favor of all elections for Parliament taking place simultaneously. The shortening of the sessions of Parliament was favorably commented on: At the Women's Federation League a resolution claiming the female franchise was carried. Lady Aberdeen and Lady Sandhurst supported the proposal. Speaking at Birmingham, Mr Gladstone said labor representation m Parliament was inadequate, and he advocated payment of members. London, November 8. Mr Gladstone, speaking at Bingley, Birmingham, said that Government, aided by cruel and invidious laws, had entrapped many offenders, while they themselvea showed unblushing and unscrupulous contempt for the law. He fiercely denounced the Crimes Act. At Birmingham Mrs Gladstone was presented wit-h an address of welcome, signed by 20,000 women. Mrs Gladstone made a lengthy and eloquent reply. . Mr Gladstone's meeting at Bingley, was attended by 19,000 people. He spoke for two hours, his speech being confined to Irish matters. Ihe meeting was most enthusiastic, and the excitement was unprecedented m Birmingham.
