HAMPSTEAD SCHOOL.

The usual monthly meeting of the Harapitoad Sohool Committee was held at the lohoolhouse on Thuraday evening. Pzeeent— Messrs F. T. Mayo (Chairman), Fawoett, Johnetoo, Harat and Lamb. Before proceeding with the ordinary business the Ocmmlttee consulted with the headmaster re the annual plonio, It was deolded to charge the children m the ! uppe? standards sixpence, and to make no change to those m the lower ; also that the O.immitte? should canvass for sabroriptloni m aid of the expemea of the treat. . • The mlnntes of the previous meeting were then read and confirmed. Correspondence was received from the B>ard stating that they coald not supply the extra desks asked for, "as the strict average attendance did not justify it." ' The Chairman atated that he bad replied to the effeot that the school had to accommodate more than the strict average and had urged the Board to aend the desks. The mas'er's report wan presented and shewed the number on the roll to be 319, an Increase of 24 on last month The report was adopted. The Secretary was Instructed to write to the parents of a child who had uot bean attending regularly. It vraß resolved that future meetings be bold on Fridays at 7 30 p m. A vote of thanks w M panged to the teachers for their efficient o mduot of the sohool and for the yood results obtained by the pupils at the recent examination. The CommU.'ee th*»n ndj nrned.
